NEWPORT, RI – Arlington U14s fell just short down in Newport this past weekend. Drawing a tough pool. Arlington notched wins in their first two matches against NERC (21-15) and the Wolfhounds (14-12) before dropping to a strong South Shore side, 25-0. Finishing second in their pool just wasn’t enough as Island Rugby edged past to get into the playoff round based on points scored. Arlington’s Neil Gribben led the team with 19 points (3T, 2C) on the day, with Aidan Dunn (1T, 2C) and Bela Bethlendy (1T) also touching it down for tries of their own.
Meanwhile, Arlington’s U10 bounced back from a loss against Ready Prep and notched two wins against Worcester and the Wolfhounds in their pool, setting up a rematch and win against Worcester in the 3rd place final.
Arlington’s U12 side played hard and finished the day with a 5th place in the pool of eight teams, dropping their first two matches against Wolfhounds and Wrentham before recording a win against North Shore to end the day.
In all, it was a great day for rugby down in Newport. All three teams gave it their all and made a good run of it on their first outing of the summer campaign and we look forward to see what the rest of the season will bring.
