CANTON, MA – It was great showing by Arlington Rugby Club this past Mother’s Day at the Irish Cultural Center in Canton, facing off in a three-way competition against the host Boston Irish Wolfhounds, and the South Shore Sharks.
In the flag division, Arlington’s U14s added another undefeated day to their success at Beast of the East with some strong defense and some spectacular running, while the U10s continued to learn the game, have a bit of fun and managing to pull out a few victories of their own, including an exciting last second try in the corner to end the day.
Arlington’s U14 tackle side (bolstered by a few of our friends from Ospreys Rugby) took the field against the Wolfhounds in their first match of the day. It was the first time half the squad stepped foot in a tackle game, but all stood up to the task and made some great plays on both sides of the ball. At the end of the day, the “Rebels” (as they dubbed themselves) definitely turned some heads as they walked off the field undefeated through four matches.
