MARSHFIELD, MA – Arlington Rugby Club’s spring season kicked off this passed weekend in Marshfield with teams competing in U10 and U12 flag and U14 tackle divisions.
Down in the flag division, the U10 side had a had a good showing, managed to have a bit of fun learning the game and were able to leave the field for the day with a few wins. With a mix of veteran and new players, rounded out with a few from other teams, the U12s also played well and were able to hone their skills and find their own successes.
Meanwhile on the upper field, it was an uphill battle for U14 tackle. It was also the first time Arlington has fielded any kind of tackle rugby team since Arlington Catholic folded nearly a decade ago and with the help of a few players on loan from other clubs, Arlington jumped feet first into the fire. Although the scores may have not gone our way, the kids accepted the challenge and can walk off the pitch with heads held high.
